Knowing yourself and being true to yourself are the most powerful things you can do in your life. Truth heals. Truth gives you power. Truth allows you to manifest your soul purpose on Earth. Because so many of us have accepted social and psychological programming from our families, our schools, our media, our places of worship and our workplaces, we have in lost ourselves in a multitude of ways. When we lose our connection with our inner truth, our physical and emotional selves fall out of balance, and life can become a burden. From this place of pain and struggle, emotional and physical illness ensues. Even though our bodies appear solid on the physical plane, we are essentially complex energy systems – both receivers and transmitters of thought, emotion, information and other multifaceted vibrations. How we relate to ourselves, to others and to the universe at large is reflected in our energetic system and our state of health. Any physical imbalance first shows up as a spiritual or emotional imbalance in our energetic body and, if not addressed at that level, will manifest as a physical illness or disease. Thankfully, many systems have been developed for gaining self-knowledge and for healing - holistic or alternative methods of healing can be explored for answers that allopathic medicine cannot provide. At its most basic, our subtle body is made up of multiple overlapping energetic bodies, which together comprise our “aura” (not typically visible to the naked eye). It is generally believed that our bodies contain seven main energy centers with corresponding levels of consciousness and areas of human functioning:
First center (base of spine): physical needs, survival, grounding
Second center (sacral region): creativity, sexuality
Third center (solar plexus): power, intuition, self-esteem
Fourth center (heart): love, emotion, interconnectedness
Fifth center (throat): integrity, choice, self-expression
Sixth center (brow/“third eye”): intellect, spiritual wisdom, perception
Seventh center (crown/top of head): spiritual consciousness, enlightenment, connection to Divine
This is a very basic map of the human energetic anatomy, which is a highly complex and sophisticated mechanism through which our emotions, beliefs, and relationship to ourselves, others and the Divine is played out.
