Spiritual Intelligence

Spiritual intelligence is the intelligence of the soul, rather than the intelligence of the human mind or the ego. Spiritual intelligence transcends all of the different forms of physically-based intelligence that we possess. What distinguishes spiritual intelligence from other forms of intelligence is that it seeks to understand life from the perspective of the soul, rather than from the perspective of the rational human mind. Our ability to develop and use our spiritual intelligence is critical to our future progress on this planet.

The history of the human race has been marked by the rise and fall of civilizations. A common theme that runs through much of the history of mankind is that of an ego-driven, physically-based consciousness which seeks to conquer, control and exert power over others. It is the survival instinct in full force, and it is that same level of consciousness which contains the seeds of its own destruction because it lacks higher wisdom and spiritual power. For us to truly succeed as a race, we need to embrace and embody the wisdom of our soul. There is no other direct way to overcome our individual and collective challenges. Developing and applying spiritual intelligence is the key to overcoming injustice, fear, hatred, environmental devastation, war, poverty, addiction, lack of opportunity and all other social ills.

What might a person who has developed spiritual intelligence look like? Such a person will likely be:

• be grounded in higher knowledge and spiritual principles

• embody a holistic approach to life

• exhibit both compassion and tolerance towards others

• understand the interconnectedness of all of life

• seek to live a life of service

• have a deep level of trust and faith in divine guidance and in the underlying order of life

• be willing to change and grow

• approach life with an open heart

• balance the rational and intuitive minds

• seek to live life from a place of higher truth and wisdom

Even though we are human and will fall short of this ideal, this truly is our goal. If we work together at harnessing the power of our soul, there is no limit to the kind of world we can create: a world filled with justice, peace, goodness, abundance, wholeness, cooperation, reverence and care for the Earth and all of its inhabitants and, most importantly, real love.
