Living a Spiritual Life may mean many different things to different people; nevertheless, the unifying understanding of most spiritual practices is a deeply felt sense of a transcendent power present in the universe and within oneself. There is no single concept or definition that can describe this power, but within the heart of authentic spirituality is an acknowledgment of an intelligent, benevolent universal force that is responsible for the creation of life and, on a very profound level, is life itself. This power can be understood as a unified field of vibration from which all life springs forth and to which all will return. Learning to fully embody divine love and allow it to blossom in your life is the key to spiritual living. The more that we understand and are able to actualize love on this physical plane of existence, the more we become like our Creator who is pure love. It is only when we wake up to see the truths underlying life that we can reorient ourselves towards expressing love in all its varied forms and manifestations. And before we are able to express love on the outside in a healthy, balanced way, we must be able to feel love on the inside – it all starts with feeling love within ourselves and for ourselves. Living a spiritual life requires that we each cultivate our inner connection to Spirit: this includes a connection to your own soul, a connection to guidance from teachers on the spiritual plane of existence and, most importantly, connection to the Source of all that is. A spiritual life can be understood as a life lived with spirit, rather than ego, as its foundation. From a place of higher consciousness, a person is able to live a truly spiritually grounded life, successfully integrating both the physical and spiritual aspects of our existence. Such a life recognizes and embodies qualities of spirit such as love, patience, tolerance, kindness, compassion, justice, truth, service, balance, peace, happiness, freedom, resilience, grace and creativity. Spirituality is like a multi-faceted diamond. There are many angles at which we can chisel, but the goal is the same: to perfect a gem of great beauty and timelessness that is our soul.
