Reconnecting with your intuitive senses when you have become used to living your life without using your intuition as a guide may feel overwhelming or confusing. However, with time, patience and practice, we all can regain this ability, which is our birthright as spiritual beings. The first step is to allow within your mind the possibility that you have access to intuitive perception and that with some training or practice, you can learn to recognize it and use in your life. Part of this process also involves learning to distinguish between your intuitive voice and other thoughts and influences which may try to negate the validity of your intuitive perception. The next step in the process is to be willing to quiet your mind and body to allow the intuitive voice room to be heard. There are many ways to do this, with meditation and relaxation being the most common approaches. Once you have achieved a state of inner peace, begin by taking some deep breaths and purposefully connecting with the energy of the Earth. Feel your consciousness deep within your body and feel the energy of the Earth coursing through you in a slow, steady hum. From this deep meditative state, you can imagine in your mind’s eye a person, situation or question that you wish to understand or resolve. Ask your “higher self” or your soul mind for a feeling, an image, an inspiration, a symbol, a smell, a sound – anything that will help you to interpret and understand the issue at hand. Then allow the response to come to you through your body or through your mind. Because intuition works in different ways for each of us, you may receive the answer in various forms – and it may come as you sit with the question or it may come later, as information in a book, a song, a conversation with a friend or even a stranger. The universe is limitless in the ways in which it can answer our prayers and requests for guidance. The process of learning to use and trust your intuitive senses takes time, but it is well worth the effort. If you remember that intuition is the voice of your soul, and that its purpose is to guide you in positive, inspiring, life-affirming ways that help you to evolve as a spiritual being, you will start to tap into your inner wisdom with greater confidence. In my view, learning to recognize, use and rely on your intuition is one of the most important foundation blocks of the spiritual path. Without it, how can you sense what is good for you and what is not, what path is the most beneficial for your soul and what will lead you to a dead end? And without guidance from your soul, how can you fully overcome the fears and uncertainties of physical life so that you can live from a place of spiritual strength and wisdom? I encourage you to learn to use your intuition in all aspects of your life. Then watch yourself take off in ways that you may not have even imagined.
