The Concept of Reincarnation

Updated: Jun 30

Waterfalls Flowing

Reincarnation emains a great mystery to many of us in the Western world even though it remains widely accepted in the East. What is interesting is that the concept of reincarnation was part of the Western Christian tradition until it was officially declared heresy by the church and deleted from the New Testament. Not all may know that reincarnation has been the subject of modern scientific research and inquiry as well. In addition, I can say with confidence that based on my readings, observations and personal experiences, there remains no doubt in my mind that reincarnation is real. Reincarnation is a crucial part of a soul’s cycle of evolution and development through the experiences of multiple lifetimes in the physical world.

On a conscious level, very few of us remember any of our past lifetimes; however, it is also true that by accessing the memories of the soul, most of us can intuit or feel the energetic patterns and imprints from our prior incarnations. The soul chooses the circumstances of each incarnation carefully – everything from your family and genetics, to the time and place of your birth, to the people who will play pivotal roles in your life, to the types of challenges and opportunities that will come your way – in short, many circumstances are planned by you before birth for the purpose of furthering the growth and evolution of your soul. In fact, the idea that you as an immortal soul would have only one single opportunity to live life in physical form seems rather far-fetched when viewed from the perspective of your “higher self.”

Experiencing lifetime after lifetime allows us to exercise our free will in a seemingly infinite number of circumstances and living out the results of our choices. The kinds of choices we make while living in the physical world, and the level of consciousness that we develop in the process, will determine the quality of our life and the nature of our experiences going forward. We get to experience both the positive and the negative outcomes of our beliefs, choices and core emotional and energetic structures. This is the result of the workings of universal law – what we do to others, we ultimately do to ourselves. This is a very valuable process as one of the functions of reincarnation is to allow the soul to experience, learn and balance “karma,” and ultimately to become enlightened through an understanding of universal laws and the higher spiritual order of the universe.
