Learning to live your life with conscious purpose - relying on your internal spiritual guidance system to overcome and transcend human weaknesses and tendencies - is perhaps one of the hardest aspects of our spiritual journey to master. Most of us are taught to live by external rules provided to us by others, not by our own innermost sense of who we are and what is right for us. The process of spiritual growth and development helps us break free from habitual patterns of behavior that do not serve the evolution of our soul. For many of us, there currently is little room in our lives for authentic spirituality. Perhaps we attend a service or a workshop from time to time, or see a therapist or a healer when issues in our life become too burdensome to deal with on our own. We may, at times, find ourselves faced with a crisis or significant difficulty that forces us to stop and reconsider how we are living our life and where it is headed. Even though such crises are difficult and often times painful, we can choose to reframe them, seeing them as messages from our soul, a wake-up call that something is out of alignment. As we become more spiritually conscious and aware, some parts of our lives that seemed to work before may start to fall apart – we may find ourselves no longer connecting in the same way with our partners or families, we may start to contemplating a change in location or career, we may find that we have less in common with some of our friends, and some things we previously enjoyed may no longer seem as appealing. At the same time, we may find ourselves drawn to new places, new people and new opportunities. Inevitably, we will find the focus of our lives shifting from the material things that used to bring satisfaction as the more intangible, spiritual aspects of life that become more prominent and important. This part of the journey can be frightening because the old familiar parts of our lives that gave us a sense of identity, recognition and security may no longer fulfill our inner needs or the deep calling of our soul. Sooner or later, your soul will call upon you to evolve and reinvent yourself into a new vision of who you are and what is possible for you in your life. This is where strength and trust in yourself and the unseen world of spirit becomes so important. Creating your life in an entirely new way is not an easy process, but doing so will allow you to make your unique contribution to building a new world based on spiritual principles and spiritual wisdom. And the gift of this work will be finding a new satisfaction, meaning and freedom that you never had before. This is the benefit and reward of living your life from a spiritual foundation.
